Boost to Walk A Mile From OBA USA Chapters

The OBA’s current flagship project – Walk A Mile – received a major boost over the last week with a donation and a pledge from East and West coast OBA communities in the USA.

The Washington DC Thomians rallied and raised funds, resulting in the donation of a Smart Board as part of the Smart Classroom project falling under the Walk A Mile umbrella. The donation was made to Warden by members of the Chapter Lasantha Dahanaike and Umanga Abeysekera (pictured above handing over their donation).

The Thomian Alumni of California have also stepped up to support the initiative with a pledge of Rs. 3 million which will also go towards the Smart Classroom project, which aims to enhance the provision of education through the use of technology and upgrade the facilities for the students and teachers.

The organizing committee is grateful for the donations made by the foreign OBA chapters which, together with the pledges and donations made so far by individuals and over 8 batch groups, raise the total pledged amount to over Rs 13,000,000.
